The why behind OGD.

For most of my adult life as a high school teacher and coach, I helped young people develop discipline, confidence, and perspective. Somewhere along the way, I realized those same qualities matter just as much — maybe more — as we get older.

The loss of my younger brother to glioblastoma changed how I see time, priorities, and what really matters. Watching someone strong, capable, and deeply loved decline over fourteen months stripped away a lot of noise and made things unmistakably clear. Life is fragile. Time is not guaranteed. And attention is one of the most valuable things we have.

I write Our Greatest Decades for men who have lived enough life to know that growth doesn’t always mean more — sometimes it means less. Less noise. Less ego. Less urgency. And more presence, steadiness, and purpose.

Each week, I send a short email called The Sunday Shift. It includes one thought worth sitting with, one small action you can actually take, and one simple practice to carry into the week. No hype. No endless advice. Just something steady to help you keep moving forward.

If this resonates, you’re welcome to join.
If not, I’m glad you stopped by.
