When Tomorrow Isn’t Promised

A lesson in purpose from the hardest season of my life.

My brother was an all-state football player, a state champion wrestler, a father of three, and a great coach and teacher. He was strong, full of life, and surrounded by a massive circle of friends and family who loved him.

Then came glioblastoma. For 14 brutal months, we watched the disease strip away everything piece by piece. Our parents—forced to endure the unthinkable—watched their youngest child suffer. We, his family, stood by helplessly as the strongest man we knew faded before our eyes. The decline was terrible. It tested every ounce of faith, strength, and love we had.

Losing him broke something in me, but it also woke me up. His life and his death remind me daily that time is not guaranteed.

One Thought - The second half isn’t about coasting. It isn’t about waiting. It’s about choosing—choosing to live with purpose, while we still can.

One Action - If there’s something you’ve been putting off—a word left unsaid, a dream left untouched—stop waiting. Do it now. Not next week. Not “someday.” Today.

One Practice - Each night, sit quietly for a moment and ask yourself: If I only had 14 months left, what would I regret leaving undone? Write down one answer, then act on it.

Here’s to making these your greatest decades,

Ken
